Hubb about to get rollin'

Saturday went from "best" to "most mediocre" day-of-my-life, as of yesterday. The pictures I got were too far away. I have no problem sticking a housing in someone's face if I am comfortable shooting them, but did I want to hit Hubb, Jacob Romero, Spencer Skipper, or any of the other "bodyboarding dieties" with my housing? Nope. I would definitely be banned from contest shooting in the future should that come to pass. Above is the best shot, Jeff Hubbard himself about to unleash a roll. Some more pics to follow as I scan them. Take care all. New website--soon? All I can say is its release shall be delayed.

Saturday, Aug 23, 2008--TODAY WAS ONE OF THE BEST DAYS OF MY LIFE! I went to the USBA tour Huntington Beach event at Goldenwest, borrowed my friend Tindall's housing, and took it out to shoot none other than Spencer Skipper, Jeff Hubbard, and the rest of the current bodyboarding "gods" and "godesses" during the USBA comp. Pictures should follow shortly. The B&W film I used will be back on Monday, and I will start scanning immediately. The A-grade photos will be saved for publication, the B-grades will go up (sorry, I have got to make my money somehow!). I hope everyone is stoked on the results. No Friends' top two legendary prone riders (and lest we forget, there were beautiful and talented boogie chicks out too) at one spot--what more could one ask for?

Monday, August 18, 2008--Its been a little while. The new site is rapidly approaching completion and release. The entire interface is being made from scratch--icons, logos, etc.--and multiple galleries of select portfolio work are being constructed, so it is taking awhile, but the end result will be a considerable advancement for www.EmulsionPhoto.com! It should launch before September 1st. If I have any new photos worthy of being put up, I will not hesitate to do so between now and then!

Thursday, July 24, 2008--

The housing is back in action, and the photos above prove it! The pulled back shot has a rider hiding in the barrel; the rider would be visible on a beautiful 8x10 print. Today--at the boogie haven of 40th St. in Newport Beach--local barrel riders Mike and Dan put on quite the commendable show. Home court advantage was quite apparent, but me and my friends pulled in, also!

Tuesday, July 22, 2008-- MB MB2 MB3 BLAH! Housing problems continue! I must disassemble and reassemble the housing I have--again. Above are three thumbnails of shots from today. Even though the top one turned out fine, I am not going to bother posting them to a printroom album due to the low volume. Please contact me if you would like to purchase one. Sunday, July 13, 2008--BIG CHANGES COMING SOON! NEW SITE! NEW CONTENT! EMULSION PHOTO IS MOVING FORWARD! The site will be completely redesigned, and ready to be updated on a regular basis. A new portfolio, recent work, and published work will all be available for viewing. It will likely be ready within a one-month period. The whole site is being de-constructed and rebuilt, so keep an eye out! Thanks everyone for tuning in.

Sincerely,

Marcus Bockman

Wednesday, July 2, 2008-- NEW PHOTOS FROM TODAY! Photos available as a reasonably priced download, or as bargain-priced prints. The housing eventually leaked, but have no worries, the camera is safe and sound. I can still shoot from the land but the housing needs reparing. I will keep you all updated on the status of my water rig. Thanks to the locals for giving me something to shoot! See you all next time.

Monday, June 30, 2008--Don't you hate it when your camera dies mid-shoot? Well, while goofing around with watershots today with a bunch of friends at the Manhattan Pier, my housed camera failed. If you want to see photos of today, you're out of luck. Sorry. Email me if you want to see a shot, but I barely got warmed up before the camera apparently choked, so I will not be posting any. I am not happy with the images, nor the camera! See you guys next time.

June 17th, 2008--Anxious for new photos? Have no fear! South swells are coming through, and I'm working on some new macrophotography pieces. A little secret: I may be having a print firesale soon, directly through this website. CHEAP, BIG PRINTS! The sale will be for a Big Wednesday lineup shot and a beautiful Manhattan Beach Pier B&W shot, available in various sizes. Stay tuned for availability!

It is Saturday, May 10th, 2008--and there are new photos! I saw a buddy in the lineup today he told me he checks the website every day, and that him and other people would like to see some more. Well, here it is. Shortboarder water shots. I would like to take a moment to thank everyone checking this website lately despite it being on my backburner. I have been trying to finish up a long term project for a photojournalism class, so my focus has shifted for the moment! Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Marcus Bockman

Shots from the 13th are now up on printroom.com! Check out the great skateboarding action at Wilson Park in Torrance.

Sincerely,

Marcus Bockman

Welcome! Its April 14th, 2008, and here's the [not-so-] Daily Dosage: CHECK OUT The April 10th edition of the Beach Reporter (currently out), page 18! I have a photo from the STD Triple Crown showdown of a contestant that ran. Additionally, I just shot some photos at Wilson Park's stairs and skateboard park. Give me a few days and they will be up there.

As of late, I have been focusing most of my artistic efforts in a photojournalism project, putting together a portfolio to shop to fine arts galleries, and connecting with local media outlets (like The Beach Reporter). Updates of any work accepted by local galleries will be immediate; thanks to everyone still checking out the site, and welcome to anyone who just found this nook of the internet. If interested in any of my works for your gallery, feel free to email me. Take care all.

Sincerely,

Marcus Bockman

Hi all, this is the 3.08.08 edition of the [not-so-] Daily Dosage news box. While I am collecting my thoughts as to what my next long-term art project will be, Tim Tindall--a surfing mentor of mine--has started developing his website. Check out his current page!

Again, new frames will be available same day the next time I shoot. Sincerely,

Marcus Bockman
